From the 1960s to the 1980s, some of the greatest and coolest toys ever devised were available in abundance. During the 1990s, it became tougher to find the top action toy figures because the retail stores were not carrying the toys like they had in the past. Now, with the internet, the toy figure industry made a tremendous comeback. In fact, the 1970s are no longer the glory era of action toy figures. The glory era is right here and now!

How do we know this? All we need to do is look at some of the excellent new toys currently available now that have truly captured the imagination of toy collectors all over the globe....

Star Wars: Oh, the toy line for the Star Wars dolls is vast. Modern and classic Star Wars characters are available and it took take quite some time to collect them all. Consider that a journey worth taking.

The Dark Knight: The modern revamp of the Batman franchise was quite unlike anything anyone expected. One reason for this is the memorable characters. Those fantastic characters include The Joker and The Dark Knight himself. They are, of course, available in collectible toy form.

Predator: It is somewhat surprising how popular the Predator films and comic books have been. The main monstrous character certainly presents a frightening image. Such a frightening image makes for a truly excellent toy.

The Pirates of the Caribbean: It should not come as much of a surprise that the legend of Captain Jack Sparrow and his mates live on in the world of collectible action figures.

Marvel Heroes: DC Comics is not the only hero line out there. The classic Marvel characters are perfectly represented. Maybe you can even match them up against the characters from The Dark Knight.

And then there are many other excellent action figure toys available from this excellent seller. The toys are produced by top names in the industry. These are not imitation items and they are not poorly constructed or designed. The detail in these figures is amazing. Virtual all the nuances and details found in the film or comic book costume are effectively replica in these toys. They are truly and amazing replica of pop culture art.

Strength Training - Steroids - How Steroids Make You WEAK

!: Strength Training - Steroids - How Steroids Make You WEAK

What does this have to do with your nutrition plan? Most people reading this are looking to improve their appearance and physical performance, and most are pursuing those goals in a commercial or school gym. Unfortunately, those are the same places you're going to find plenty of people using anabolic steroids. They're also the places you'll be approached to buy the stuff.

If you're approached, you'll more than likely be promised overnight gains, doubling, or tripling your homeruns, wins, rate of progression, amount of records you'll shattered and on and on.

You'll also be told things like.

"It's totally safe."

"Every champ does it"

"Don't worry about side effects, all you need to do is 'cycle stacks' and I can show you how."

"I get my stuff from a real doctor on the other side of town."

And on, and on, and on...

Before you make the wrong decision, ask yourself if a cocaine dealer is the first image that comes to mind when you think about an honest, caring and straight forward person? I mean, a drug dealer has your best interests at heart, right?

Now, consider the fact that steroids are a drug, and are illegal to have without a prescription and can get you into serious trouble if caught with them in your possession, I think you'll agree that it's fair to call 'roid dealers drug dealers. And if you're smart, you'll think twice about the advice these bozos have for you.

Again, since many reading this are looking to increase muscle mass and/or physical performance, I think it's very important to go over this stuff.

Some reading this may already know this, and others may not. One effect steroids have on the body is to increase its ability to synthesize protein. In other words your body is now able to build and repair muscle faster. Your body breaks down protein into amino acids, and then it rebuilds them into the appropriate protein it needs to repair or build up the body.

You can look at it this way. Each gram of complete protein is a brick and your body has a bunch of brick layers building up various sections of your body. When you train you tear down sections of your body. In a matter of fact, normal everyday living will tear down your body. This rebuilding process takes place at night when you're deep asleep. Your body naturally releases hormones, including Human Growth Hormone (HGH) to aid in this rebuilding. (This is why quality sleep is critical for peak performance)

A person in their natural state - one who isn't on steroids or any other similar androgenic substance - can only utilize so many grams of protein in a day. His or her workers, for example's sake, can only lay 100 bricks a day. It doesn't matter how much protein is provided in the diet, that's all the workers can do.

Did you know .......? The term Androgenic is defined as pertaining to the development of male characteristics, including body hair, the genital organs and muscle mass. "Androgenic" is the adjective form of the noun "androgen," a word referring to any of the male hormones, including testosterone and androsterone.

A 'roid head' on the other hand, because of the use of his illegal drugs, can, for example, process 200 grams of protein a day. So his workers are not only able to lay more brick, but they can repair and rebuild faster too, leading to faster and bigger gains. This allows 'juicers' to get more benefit out of each work out - they can train with less intensity, but, because their bodies are able to rebuild faster they grow quicker. They can also train harder than a natural athlete and come back sooner and do it again, where the natural guy or gal has to take a day's rest or more depending on training intensity. Trying to keep up with the juicer will cause the natural trainer to lose muscle, not build it because of overtraining. This crap also enables an athlete to go past their genetic potential, allowing the juice monkey to build more muscle and strength than he or she could naturally achieve - at least that's one reason why they claim that taking it is so important.

If you haven't picked up on it yet, I'm not a fan of steroids, I'm not a fan those who take them, and I'm especially not a fan of those who sell them. Steroids are a cheater's friend. A steroid abuser is cheating their fellow athletes, all true fans of that sport, and most importantly; themselves.

I truly believe that all aspects of life are related - life's experiences are universal. What you experience and go through in one endeavor affects you in others. And it's no different in sports or trying to put on muscle. If life's experiences and lessons weren't applicable in other areas of your life it would take you forever to learn. This becomes clear when you start fully and deeply living your life. You'll quickly connect lessons you learn to all areas of your life and this is one of the reasons why cheating is so dangerous and effort, discipline, thought, and perseverance among other traits are what count. It's also why analogies, proverbs, parables and stories are so valuable - because wisdom applies to all aspects of life - most, if not all lessons are universal.

When it comes to weight loss or putting on muscle or any other goal in your life, you will have periods of frustration and obstacles to overcome. Even with the information you're reading right now, which I truly believe will change your life for the better, there will be tough times.

For instance, difficulties might arise because of your unique situation. Maybe you don't have the required items or tools that are used in an explanation or maybe you think you're following the recommendations the way you should, but you really aren't. Many people, including myself, at times put their own spin on things without realizing it. It's why I believe you should not only follow what's recommended, as long as it isn't harmful to you or others, but to make sure you're following directions the way it's explained and not your own interpretation of it, once you understand what your doing you can then "customize" it. Avoid "adding" steps to the process until you have went through it at least once and understand what you're doing.

All of this requires you to become more self aware, to examine what you're doing and see if you're headed in the right direction. Sometimes it may take a while before you figure out what's wrong, and it might be something really simple. You're going to have to fight at times, dig down deep and say "I'm not giving up, I want this and I'm going to get it!" You might have to ask for help, a sign of true strength.

This builds character, empowers your self image, and strengthens your will. Steroids and magic potions that promise the world cheat you of all of this. There are not too many ways of feeling better, than looking at yourself and the things you've done in life and saying "I created this." - It wasn't a hand out. I know there's a place and time for one, but when you fall on your ass and look for someone to pick you up, there might not be anyone around to do it. You can't get very far in life with that mentality. Anyone who takes steroids, or cuts corners in any other way, is allowing this weakness to seep into the rest of his being, and its stench will permeate through to others who will pick up on it.

That stench is the smell of a quitter, a cheater, of someone who looks for the easy way out. I wouldn't want that person next to me in the fox holes of life, and more than likely neither do you. Others, especially achievers and true champions, feel the same way, and if you're his type of person, see ya!

I couldn't imagine looking in the mirror, or at the weight I just lifted and not be able to tell myself "I did this." I couldn't imagine having to look in the mirror and have a syringe or bottle of pills next to me, reminding me that I didn't do this, these drugs did.

There was a time when every man and woman had to gather and catch their food. They also had to work the land and sow seeds to reap a harvest. There's no way around that. Maybe there's a clue there, a reason for it?

I don't want you to misunderstand what I'm saying with the only way is to work hard and avoid using your head, essentially living a hard life. That's not what I'm saying. In fact, those who work hard at working smart are the one to keep an eye on. What I'm talking about is cheating yourself out of the opportunity of persevering in the face of difficulties. Coming to the realization that there are times when it's up to you, and you alone to pull yourself up. Then resolving that no mater what you're going to work hard until you're able to figure it out. Once you figure it out it tends to get a lot easier.

If you're currently taking steroids, throw the crap out, and start over. It will get worse before it gets better, but it will get better.

If you have or know school age children, maybe classmates, especially those who partake in athletics, keep an eye out for signs of steroid abuse.

The following are some signs of steroid use: Quick weight gain with larger muscle mass Aggressiveness and bad attitude Jaundice / skin change Purple or red spots on the body Swelling of feet and lower legs Shaking or trembling Persistent body odors Severe acne breakouts with oily skin
Short-Term and Long-Term Physical Effects of Steroids Use Men - Even though anabolic steroids are derived from male sex hormones, men who choose to take them can experience some of the following effects: Short-term Reduced sperm count Damage to the heart Impotence Difficulty or pain while urinating Long-term

Liver disease or liver cancer Development of breasts Shrinking of the testicles
Women - If a woman uses steroids, some "masculinization" effects may occur.

Short-term Breast reduction Excessive hair growth Long-term Deepened voice Enlarged clitoris Abnormal menstrual cycles If you're reading this because you're looking to create a nutritional plan that'll help you pack on muscle, think real hard if anyone ever offers you some "sauce." Anyone who sells this stuff is a drug dealing punk that deserves to be thrown in jail, especially if he's selling it to minors. This person is a predator, and do you really think he'll care if you end up getting sick or dying from using his crap? Not at all. The only thing he'll feel bad about is the money he's no longer getting from you.

Steroids should only be used for legitimate reasons under the required medical supervision. Any doctor who sells or prescribes steroids for performance enhancing reasons, not real medical reasons, is a bigger punk than the drug dealer above. A doctor took an oath, a Hippocratic Oath, to protect your health not to harm it. This guy deserves to lose his practice license and shipped off to the klink.

There are many counterfeit steroids on the market and lots of this stuff comes from third world countries, or animal farms because they were intended for animal use only. For all you know you could end up with a vial full of horse urine or a bottle of pills made from rat poison. Stay away from this crap.

Physical Effects on Males and Females from Steroids Use

Continued use of anabolic steroids can cause the following effects in both sexes

Short-term Acne Fluid retention Rapid weight gain Increased blood pressure and cholesterol levels Insomnia (inability to sleep) Headaches Reduced sexual functioning Increase in muscle size Swelling of feet and ankles Improved healing Improved appetite
Long-term · Blood clotting difficulties · Heart attacks · Clotting disorders · Cardiovascular, liver, and reproductive organ damage · Premature heart attacks and strokes · Reduced sexual functioning · Stunted growth in adolescents · Anti-hypertensive behaviors · Hypertension or fatigue · Chronic gonadotrophin or (HCG) · Increased chance of injuring ligaments, tendons and muscles · When injecting: bacterial infections, abscesses, cellulitis, and HIV/AIDS

If you go to a gym, you'll usually know who's taking this stuff. More often than not, they're the most screwed up and insecure people in the gym. You don't want to end up like these people.

Take another look at the symptoms listed above. If you're a guy, do you really want shrunken testies? If you're a girl, do you want your clitoris to become enlarged to the point it's visible through your clothes? That'll look real sexy at the beach. I mean women want the guys to mistaken them for a hermaphrodite right?

Ask if anything is worth harming your health and cheating yourself out of life altering lessons, lessons and challenges that will result with a deeper understanding of yourself and life.

Action Steps!

Just Say No

Yeah, I know, it sounds corny - but I'd take corny over developing breasts. And if you're a woman reading this, I'm sure sounding silly is much more preferable than back hair and an enlarger clitoris.

Get Educated and Apply it!

With the right training, rest and nutrition plan, it's possible for many beginners to gain 20 lbs of muscle inside, or lose 20 lbs of fat within 3 months. It's also possible to triple your endurance in 2-3 weeks.

To be able to do this you need to learn how to do it, and you'll be hard pressed to discover it within the pages of the muscle mags. For the most part you'll only find ads for miracle muscle potions and steroid using models claiming it was the supplement that gave them their "freaky" development - and pigs fly.

Sticking to the basics and having the courage to consistently and properly apply them will develop your strength, health and character to level most only dream of attaining.

Humans Are Animals But Animals Are Not Human

!: Humans Are Animals But Animals Are Not Human

Introduction:

It seems that there is a lack of understanding and more than a few misconceptions when it comes to the subject of animals. This article will discuss some of these misconceptions and the realizations that we need to make if we are to avoid deaths and animal attacks. The problem seems to lie in our misconceptions that animals are driven by emotions rather than by pure survival instincts. This causes us to attribute an animal attack to the human emotion of anger or revenge. I know that all people do not hold these misconceptions, which would be presumptuous. What I am saying is that a majority of people do, simply based upon the evidence. The evidence I refer to includes television shows on Discovery, Animal Planet, TNT, etc. It also includes the news media, and even Academia. Again, some shows are guiltier than others, but the fallacies range from the small to the absurd.

The main point the reader needs to take from this article is that animals are animals, driven by basic instincts necessary for their survival. They do not feel anger, jealousy, love, or plot revenge. Although some animals may contain the capacity for these emotions, I doubt those senses are as highly developed or reasoned through as ours seem to be. So, when we attempt to attribute human emotions to animal motivations we are making a silly mistake. We need only try to look at the situation from the animal's point of view. This shouldn't be hard, because we have the ability to reason. We need only attempt to return to a state of mind that we haven't had since we rubbed sticks together and drew on cave walls.

The Main Issues:

The tree hugger is as much to blame as the hunter. When a nature lover is attacked brutally by an animal and survives they usually make the statement; "It didn't know what it was doing". This is not true. The animal knew full well what it was doing. They would also make the claim that they should not have put themselves in that situation. That statement actually is true, to an extent. When we venture out into nature we cannot expect that we will not be attacked by a wild animal. What we must expect is that there is a possibility, and we must accept responsibility for this if we are going into the woods anyways.

Animals are finding their natural lands threatened by housing developments, businesses, and other activities that bring human beings into areas where animals used to roam. Their territory is shrinking. So, when we go out into the woods than it is our responsibility. If a person enters the forest for any reason, and is attacked by an animal, whatever the reason; it's their fault. Why? Because they know in the back of their mind that it is a possibility. If you go into the woods with your children and they are attacked, then it is the parent's fault. Why? Because they knew it was a possibility. You have every right to take the risk, but when and if something bad happens, you can't blame the animal.

There are people out there who believe that animals are of no consequence. The only thing that matters in this world is the human race. If an animal is hit by a car, shot, or killed by anything other than natural means; so what. This is a very ignorant viewpoint to have for one reason. We live in a world that is governed by balance. One thing affects another and if one species disappears it will affect other species. Sometimes it can be in a good way for that species and sometimes it can be in a bad way. If all predatory birds were to go extinct than it would be great for rodents. It would not be so good for whatever the rodents feed upon and it most certainly would not be good for us. Granted some species can go extinct without greatly upsetting the balance of things. It's when multiple extinctions occur that a major problem will arise. These individuals that do not hold animals in high regard, when attacked by animals, usually are quick to anger. That animal attacked me and therefore must die! I doubt that they would even consider the possibility that they bore any responsibility whatsoever for entering the woods that day. The bottom line is that if people enter the woods, we must be aware of the dangers. This goes for any natural environment that we consciously enter, knowing full well that we could be attacked by a bear or a shark.

I will never forget an episode of Worlds Most Amazing Video or maybe it was the Most Extreme, where an elephant was rampaging through the streets of Mexico. If I remember correctly, this elephant was performing in a circus, turned on its trainer (killing him), and then began running through the streets. This elephant ended up being shot to death in the street. I had no problem with that, it was clear the animal had to be taken down. What I did have a problem with was the statement made by the bonehead commentator of the show. He stated, "This is a tragic event, but let's not forget why this was necessary." That may not be his statement word for word, but the point is clear. The elephant had to die because it was a rampaging monster! How ignorant is that? In my opinion that was an extremely ignorant statement that had me cursing out loud at my television set. It is true that the elephant did kill his trainer. It is also true that the elephant was out of control. Why are these the only valid points? Did anyone stop to think that the elephant should not have been there in the first place? Elephants do not belong in circuses and they do not belong in zoos. The only purpose a zoo should serve is to rehabilitate injured animals or to shelter animals that are endangered.

Animals are wild, the only mistake made in the elephant situation is that "WE", thought we could tame or control this animal. Can we do it? Yes, we can, but should we, NO! Personally, if an animal that is in a zoo or a circus attacks a person then I do not want to hear about it. No sympathy will be found with me. The bottom line is that animals belong in the wild. I do not care how tame or domesticated we think that they are. The chance will always remain that they can attack for reasons that really do not matter. I have a hard enough time trying to figure out why people do some of the things they do. The last thing I want to have to do on a daily basis is try to figure out what an elephant, bear or a shark was thinking.

When I was younger, I went to zoos. The last time I visited a zoo I was 21 years old, and it was at Busch Gardens and Disney's Wild Kingdom. I am 31 years old and I have not been to a zoo since. I will never go to a zoo again simply because I do not believe in them. To take a wild animal and stick it in a cage for our amusement is simply ridiculous. How many of us would like to be stuck in an enclosure, I don't care how natural or comfortable that it is, and then told we can never leave? Not many, but since we are not talking about people than it does not matter. Animals do not belong in cages. They are meant to be out in the wild. So, when we place animals in situations that they instinctually do not belong in then we cannot hold them accountable for their actions. The only people that can be held accountable for animal attacks occurring in zoos or a circus are we. Not just the owner of the zoo or circus, but the person that was attacked as well. After all, they are the ones paying the fee to enter an area where dangerous animals are kept. Its all about responsibility and too often are we not willing to accept our share of the responsibility in this day and age.

Animals are not governed by the same things that we are. If a person wrongs us then we get angry. If a person loves us then we love back. Human beings are capable of an array of emotions including, jealousy, happiness, sadness, anger, fear, etc. We also have the ability to plot and scheme. If someone makes us extremely angry or jealous then we may wish to do harm against that other person. Animals do not think this way and yet whenever I hear, or read of an animal attack; I always hear someone try to attribute human motivations to why the animal behaved the way it did. Real life is not Lady and the Tramp, or Over the Hedge. Animals do not reason like we do. The only activities that animal are concerned with are eating, sleeping, pooping, peeing, and reproduction. From the day they are born till the day they die, they are only concerned with life processes.

Our way of life along with our highly developed brain allows us to move beyond these simple processes. They are still there and will forever remain the focal point of life, but they will never consume as much of our lives as it does for animals. Humans still need to eat, sleep, poop, pee, reproduce, etc. We have more free time that allows us to focus on other things. We work for food and recreational things. We get water from a well and live in houses and apartments. This allows us to apply our energies elsewhere. Animals are not afforded this. Mainly because they have not evolved to the extent that humans have. This is nobodies fault, its just how it is. With this evolution comes responsibility on our part. We have to realize that we are responsible for our actions because we are aware of our actions. It is different with animals, they are not aware of their actions.

If I am walking in the woods and a grizzly bear attacks me, it does not do so out of anger. The grizzly may simply see me as an easy target. If it is hungry then it will look for food. It is wrong to say that human beings are not part of what they eat. A bear will eat just about anything if it is hungry. We know that bears eat meat. In fact, bears have been known to eat everything from berries to bucks. I think the reason that we say things like, "They don't normally eat people", or "We are not part of their diet", is because we are rarely in contact with bears. Since our evolution we have put ourselves in contained environments called houses, which are surrounded by towns and cities. No bears here, although in rural areas, residents can catch glimpses of bears in their back yards. The bottom line is that we are meat. Yes, human beings are meat. We are. You can slice us, dice us, stick us in a frying pan, and eat us. You will not starve either. I'm sure we are packed with tons of protein and fat, perfect for surviving long winters. We don't normally think of us as food, because we tend to frown on cannibalism. We eat chicken, beef, pork, lamb, duck, lobsters, crabs, etc, etc. There is very little on this earth that we don't eat.

Why is a bear eating a person any more appalling than a human eating a bear? I think the main reason is that we then imagine if it were we getting eaten, and then we conclude that it would suck. Whether it sucks or not does not matter. What does matter is that we are edible just like any other animal on this planet. To say that a bear is blood thirsty, or got the taste for blood is a ridiculous statement as well. From the time they are a bear cub; they have the taste for blood and they eat plenty of it. What they mean by "have a taste for blood" is that they have tasted human and like it. Here is a good example. If I had never tasted Chinese food before and then I try it, and then it turns out that I love it. I am going to want to eat Chinese food as often as possible. In reality I love Chinese food, and would eat it everyday if I could. The same may be true for bears. How do we know what we taste like? We don't eat each other so how do we know whether or not we taste good? For all we know human meat could be the greatest freaking tasting meat on the face of the earth. I will bet it is very tender, given the less active nature of our society.

So, if a bear attacks me, and he gets a taste; it may just be that he likes it. It is only natural for the bear to seek out some more of that tasty meat. So, it is not that a bear is blood thirsty, it just means that he has tasted human, likes it, and continues to seek it. Human beings make nice targets. Look at us, we have no claws, no long sharp teeth, we are not very big, and have lost the ability to protect ourselves in the wild without a club, knife, or a gun. The only thing we have going for us in that situation is our higher intelligence. Since we can't kill the bear with our bare hands we are forced to try and outsmart it by playing dead. Incidentally we are not the only animals that employ this tactic.

Another very important piece the grizzly bear attack puzzle is human expansion. We are constantly expanding into new territories that were once inhabited by these animals. How can we be sure how they view this activity? As I said before, I doubt they exhibit any rational human thought to the situation, but they do recognize change. Some animals may be able to associate humans with this change that threatens their home. This may trigger a natural instinct to attack. This may lead an animal to kill for the sake of killing. It is not out of anger or jealousy. All the animal knows is that we are responsible for the changes, they feel threatened, and they attack. This is much the same as a young male lion challenging the older lion for control of the pride. During rutting season, bucks lock horns for the right to mate. These are instinctual actions that may be triggered by human encroachment into an animal's territory. This would then cause an animal to see us as a threat, and in the animal world you only do two things with a threat: you either drive it away or you kill it. This behavior may account for some of the animal attacks that occur in this country and around the world.

Of course; It depends upon what animal you are talking about. Bears, deer, big cats may exhibit this behavior but it is highly unlikely that a shark or a crocodile would. In the case of many shark attacks it is either a case mistaken identity, or they just don't care, because it looks edible and they are going to eat it. It can't say for sure about crocs, but I would assume that the majority of attacks are about food with a handful about territory.

Conclusions;

The bottom line is that many of the animal attacks that occur in this country are simply a matter of an opportune meal. Human beings wander into environments where animals live and they simply view us as an easy target. Animals see us as food, nothing more. How often do we think twice before cutting into a steak or eating a burger? This is much the same way, as a predator would view us in their environment. They don't see us as a person; they see us as a nice juicy steak...for arguments sake. We need to keep this in mind before we venture out anywhere that we can come into contact with these animals. Even if you don't think of some of these animals as dangerous, you still have to be cautious. Just ask anyone that has been attacked by a deer! Many of us would not assume a deer would pose a threat, but they can do damage. In the end we cannot ever really comprehend why the animal attacked us. The fact remains that animals can and do attack. Sometimes we live and sometimes we die. If we choose to enter the woods then we much accept this consequence. We must also keep this in mind when moving into a new housing development. It will take animals time to let go of old territories and seek out new territories. Unfortunately they may not always be able to and this brings humans and animals into contact more and more. As much as we like to think that we rule the earth, it's only an illusion. It is an illusion that can cost us dearly if we are not careful in the future.

I am not saying that if a bear kills a person or a child that it should not be killed. Personally, I believe it depends upon the circumstances of the attack and the wishes of the family members. Ultimately, whether or not the animal is put down I assure you that the animal has no sense of right or wrong. If an animal such as a bear eats a person, than in all likely hood it will try to eat another. We must taste good to them, or else the statement, "That bears got a taste for blood", would not have survived as long as it has. So ,what do you do with an animal like that? I guess the only thing we could do is try not to give them the opportunity to get a liking for people meat. We need to be more aware about how the world works beyond the confines of our cities and towns. There is another world that we left long ago called the wild. Knowledge is power. We need to be aware of the possibility of an attack when we enter the woods. We must always be aware that if we live in rural areas that the possibility still also remains. We should familiarize ourselves with the animals that pose a threat in our region and find out what measures we can take to ensure our safety.

As far as zoos go, we should take full responsibility there. If an animal in captivity eats one of us then oh freaking well! It's our fault the animal is in that situation in the first place. Elephants belong in Africa, polar bears belong up north, and lions belong in Africa, and so on and so forth. We can't expect them to suppress millions of years of natural instincts simply because we want to train them to entertain us. That is simply absurd. The same can be said for a circus or any other form of entertainment that utilizes wild animals. No matter how well trained we think they may be, they can still attack us for whatever reason. The bottom line is that we would not get attacked if we did not put animals in the position to attack us. If we had left the elephant in Mexico in Africa where it belongs than that trainer would still be alive today, hopefully in a different profession.

Even the most domesticated animals on the planet can still be unpredictable. A dog can turn on its owner in a heartbeat. It may have never done so before and it may never do so again. Still, it is not that animal's fault; it is the fault of the person with the animal. I have had more than my fare share of cats and dogs in my lifetime and I have had a few scars to prove it. As far as I am concerned it goes with the territory. If I am willing to have a pet then I must be willing to bear the consequences of that animal's action.

Steel Art in Thailand

!: Steel Art in Thailand

Thailand has developed an international reputation for its steel art creations. You may have seen examples of Thai craftmanship online in the form of Life-sized Alien, Predator and Star Wars characters, freestanding and made entirely from scrap metal.

The industry began over 15 years ago when independent artists began to create small and basic models from wire, nuts and bolts. Typical examples include stickmen, motorcycles and very basic animal models. Nothing was made commercially and the creation of these statues were merely a hobby practiced by a group of about 12 craftsmen.

The industry changed significantly after the first Predator movie appeared in 1987. By this time, the artists who'd created small statues were in need of a challenge and decided to work together to produce the world's first scrap metal Predator was created.

The manufacturing industry in Thailand had developed sufficiently so that there was an abundance of cheap scrap metal from manufacturers such as Ford Thailand, boat manufacturers, scrapyards and Thai military suppliers.

A group of 5 artists cooperated to produce the first design. It was 1.5 meters tall, took four months to make and required the assistance of 20 other workers who volunteered their time.

At the time there was no Internet, computer design programs, resin model collectibles or digital photography. There was only one photograph used when completing the entire design - this was a 1-meter tall poster that was imported from America.

Artists did not sketch design ideas or create detailed construction plans. Instead the building work became a social activity. A wire frame 'scaffolding' was created to show a three-dimensional framework. Artists would rummage through the scrap metal resources they had available and discuss in their group how they believed particular Predator features could be created.

Thais are reputed to avoid conflict and the building process was fun, communal and there was as much drinking as there was constructing. If a particular artist felt that he could improve upon an existing feature, it would be put to a vote within the group.

The completed Predator statue was never sold. It was passed between the various workmen for three years until it was donated to charity.

The Predator legacy lives on. Since the first completed statue there have been 5 master artists throughout Thailand who've developed the art of scrap metal model-making.

Our own full-time artist, Khun Phairote has been developing his skills for over 10 years. An intelligent and skillful man, Phairote explains to us how the most difficult aspect of his work is in selecting workers with both skill and an ability to work with others.

"We've been lucky that the 12 full-time artists we now employ all have a great sense of family spirit. They take collective pride in their work and are always happy to assist colleagues and to suggest improvements."

The most rewarding aspect of this work, according to Khun Boom - one of the lead artists at the workshop is seeing how statues develop over time.

"Every statue is unique although if we discover a great way of creating a feature, we look to bring it into our future work as well. Having worked at the workshop now for over 8 years, it's been great to see how our skills, attention to detail and design details have progressed. If you compare our work today with the work we created in the past you'll see just how far we've come."

Predator Action Figures - The Basics

Science fiction horror film fans (aren't they everywhere?) just love the Predator film series. Fortunately for collectors, there is no shortage of cool action figures representing the characters from these flicks.

The Predator Franchise

Predator Action Figures

The Predator film series is a science fiction horror film franchise. The series started in 1987 with the film Predator, produced by 20th Century Fox. This was followed by a sequel, Predator 2 (1990), and numerous novel, comic book and video game spin-offs. There were also three more incredible films: Alien vs. Predator (also known as AVP, 2004), Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (also known as AVP:R, 2007), and Predators (2010).

Many Choices

Whether you consider them toys or (like us serious collectors) works of art, the many action figures associated with the Predator movies will thrill you with their variety of colors, sizes, details, and Accessories.

There are really a great many Predator action figures on the market. There are dozens of related figures to be found using a simple online search. Quite a few companies have produced Predator action figures, including Sideshow Collectibles, NECA, and McFarlane Toys.

McFarlane Toys released, in 2004, a series of figures from AVP that range from 8-1/4 to 8-1/2 inches tall. These articulated (poseable) figures are finely detailed and some come with removable Accessories. The five figures in this series are Scar Predator, Elder Predator, Celtic Predator, Grid Alien, and Battle Alien.

Cost

The cost of the Predator action figures runs a wide gamut. Some can be bought for about , while some of the figures from McFarlane Toys can fetch up to 0. Some of the rare figures that are no longer in production are hard to find in the usual retail outlets, but may be seen on eBay for 0 or more!

Other Features

The available figures differ in size, ranging from 2 to 24 inches or more in height. Some are rigid, and some poseable. Some figures require assembly, and the product description of these should include the terms "kit version" or "some assembly required".

Bundles and Related Products

You can buy sets that include two, three, or even four, separate characters in a single package. There are also bundles of characters with dioramas. There is an Alien Lunchbox With Drink Container, and several T-shirts with related artwork. You can even get an AVP Chopper Predator Mask Life-size Prop Replica.

Final Words for Buyers

Some people buy these figures as toys, while others consider themselves collectors. Be aware that some of the Predator action figures are known to be fragile, while others are quite rugged. The best way to find out about specific products is to look for reviews that go into detail from personal experiences. Don't buy real small products for young kids who may swallow them. I'm sure you will find a great selection, so have fun!

Africa's Endangered Wildlife Species

Africa's dazzling natural beauty has lured millions of people across the globe to its shores and captured the hearts of everyone that has visited. It is home to thousands of animal species but no thanks to habitat destruction, poaching and the thriving fur, trade Africa's wildlife are slowly but most definitely becoming extinct.

Scientists believe that the figures regarding endangered animals will increase dramatically in the next twenty years. This means that the next generation and those to follow, will not be fortunate enough to see critically endangered animals like the tiger and the black rhino in the flesh, because our animal species are all dying out at a rapid speed.

Predator Action Figures

Every animal has a certain, niche environment in which they co-exist with a healthy and balanced ecosystem. If the balance between predator and prey is not in proportion, then populations may either diminish or expand. This factor will sometimes lead to premature extinction of a certain animal species. It has been proven that habitat destruction is the most important factor that is causing the extinction of many animal species. Without a decent, flourishing environment to live in animal life cannot exist.

With thousands of Africa's wildlife just vanishing off the face of the earth each year, we have compiled a list of the most endangered animals in Africa and where you can still go to see them in their natural habitats:

The Black Rhino

The black rhino is the most endangered animal in Africa and is ranked "critically endangered" due to extreme hunting and poaching due to the extreme demand for rhino horn in the world. At the moment there are quite a few Game Reserves that are still dedicated to saving the black rhino and although the numbers are falling fast, they are still there. Game Reserves in the KwaZulu Natal and Swaziland region, the Masai Mara Reserves and Kenya's Amboseli are the only places that you will have a good chance of spotting a black rhino. If some methods aren't taken into action to save the black rhino then Africa would be forced to remove this animal from The Big Five, as it will no longer exist anywhere in the world.

The African Elephant

The African elephant is another member of The Big Five that is slowly dying out. But even though endangered, there are some African parks where there is an influx of elephants and their numbers sometimes need to be controlled. Elephants can weigh over six tonnes and eat about 250kg a day, which results in extreme pressure on their environment. They are smart animals and are able to communicate with each other using sounds that humans cannot hear. You can see the African elephant in most game parks in South Africa.

The Mountain Zebra

Today the zebra is only found in a few Game Reserves; the Kruger National Park is where most people go to see the zebra. Other kinds of zebra like the Burchell's zebra and the Greyy zebra are more common and are found all over Southern Africa; you can distinguish the Mountain zebra from the res by their lack of "shadow stripes," which are faint stripes that run in between the black stripes, and their grid-like striped pattern just above their tails. The Mountain zebra gets along well with the wildebeest, elephant and impala and often mix with these species in Game Reserves.

The Cheetah

The Cheetah is renowned in the rest of the world as the fastest animal on earth, exceeding speeds of over 100 km/h. These endangered big cats can only be seen at the Kruger National Park in South Africa and at Etosha in Namibia to name but two. They are not very big animals and their sleek, slender build makes them easy to tell apart from a leopard. Because of the cheetah being a relatively small cat in comparison to other wild cats, their young are often preyed on by other big felines, and they are usually shot by farmers who fear for their livestock. Their petite body mass also counts against them as they have to compete with other predators for sustenance and these factors all play a role in the battling survival of the cheetah.

Chimpanzees

These cute primates live in groups of 120 and are not as critically endangered but their numbers are dwindling as a result of poaching and their natural habitat being threatened by deforestation. Chimpanzees live off mostly fruit and plants, and they find comfort in the shady areas of forests. With the increase of wildfires each year and the cutting down of trees for artificial purposes, the chimpanzees legacy is at stake. There are still a few chimps in Western Tanzania in Game Parks like Mahale Mountains National Park where you are able to see them in their natural habitat.

One other critically endangered animal is the Tiger. There are only 200 of them left in South Africa and that's only in captivity. They have completely died out in the wild and Game Reserves are battling to keep them alive and thriving but 200 is too small a number to be able to save the tiger from dying out. The harsh reality is that the next generation and generations after that will not be able to see a real tiger in its natural habitat. There are a few Game Reserves in Southern Africa that you can visit to see the big cats, so don't surpass this opportunity. Spend time with the endangered species of Africa, it might just be your last chance to see these beautiful creatures in alive and breathing and it will definitely be a memory you'd want to cherish forever.

The Asian Tiger

One other critically endangered animal is the Tiger. Although not a native African animal, much has been done in Africa, specifically South Africa to help prevent the downfall of this beautiful animal. There are only 200 Tigers in South Africa, all in captivity and Game Reserves are battling to keep them alive and thriving. But this is too small a number to be able to save them entirely from dying out.

The harsh reality is that the next generation and generations after that will not be able to see a real tiger in its natural habitat. So don't surpass this opportunity to visit one of these big cats while we still can. Spend time with the endangered species of Africa, it might just be your last chance to see these beautiful creatures alive and breathing and it will definitely be a memory you'd want to cherish forever.
